Tell Me What You Want

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I started this blog not too long ago and I created post based upon what I wanted to write.

But I would prefer to create the information that you want to know!

That is why I have one very simple request of you…

TELL ME WHAT

YOU WANT!

It is as simple as leaving a comment below. Ask your question, tell me what topic you would like covered (there are some that I can’t help you with but I will respond to your comment and let you know that) or if you have a good post you would like to see here let me know that too.

Read the posts that are already here and you will see the type of topics I am covering, that might give you an idea of what to ask. If you see anything that you like book mark it, if you like a lot of them subscribe to the RSS feed or email delivery to be updated on new posts. The email delivery will only send you the new post nothing else.

Go ahead, don’t be shy, leave a comment on what you would like to read.

Kudo’s on your new blog Randy!!

In the midst of all of the “give me your money” websites and blogs, yours is a breath of fresh air. You have shown the real meaning of “give before you receive”.

I would wish you luck but you do not really need it with what you are doing.

All the best and God Bless!

    David

  2. Randy The Hermit Says:

Thanks for the kind word David

  3. Jerry Says:

Hey Randy it sure is nice to see something that is given rather than taken. I second the kind words of David above. If you could come up with something to “Keep a person ON TRACK”, I am sure it would be beneficial to not only myself but others as well. It seems like the amount of bombardment of so many various GREAT things out there it really makes it hard for a newbie to stay focused…….. Thanx in advance - Jerry

  4. Randy The Hermit Says:

    Hi Jerry,

    Thanks for the kind words.

Keeping on track is something that is hard to do with all the hype you are being bombarded with. There is always something new that will make you a millionaire overnight.

But the key thing is to have a goal and only work on things that are taking you toward you goals. I cover this a little in the getting started ebook but one thing I didn’t cover there is an accountability partner. Look for a post on that in the near future.

  5. Del Hickson Says:

Thank you Randy for the good insights on your blog. I want to ask your advise about autoresponders. I notice that you use aweber. I’ve come across several that our much cheaper ($15 per month or less). I’m not sure which one to choose. Since I’m just starting out, $30 per month for Aweber seems kind of expensive.

  6. Floyd Dorrance Says:

Being a senior citizen I suppose I should “know it all” but as a greenhorn to IM I sure have a lot of holes in my education.

For example: I hAVE A 150 GIG HARD DRIVE HALF FULL OF ALL KINDS OF RESELL MERCHANDISE I WOULD LIKE TO RESELL BUT i DON’T HAVE A CLUE HOW TO ARRANGE LINKS TO CRAPHICS AND TEXT OR TO SALES PAGES OR TO THANK YOU PAGES TO GET THE PURCHASED ITEM TO THE CUSTOMER.

Apparently I don’t even know how to keep from hitting the cap buttun either.

Could you or someone out there point me to BASIC information I so badly need. I am trying to supplement a small SS check each month and not doing to well. As a matter of fact lousy.

  7. Sybille Says:

    Hi Randy,

Great content!I wish you could give more info about outsourcing and how and what to write when asking for a job to be done,in order to not been ripped off.

If you could make a video about this topic in the Marketing Beginners Site,it would be super-great!

I would also like to learn how to add adsense and RSS feeds to a blog…I am a newbie…learning and doing. The content in Marketing Beginners has been of great help for me.

And…in a niche keyword research, how can one know when a niche is profitable or not.

    Thank YOU very very much!

    Wish U only the Best!

  8. Camille Thomson Says:

OOoh Floyd, you’re playing my song! No matter how many times I get the ebook, the video, the program, the step-by-step, I still can’t get a page uploaded. I’ve had a web site, domain name AND hosting for a whole year and I have not got one page loaded yet. Why, because I can’t sort out what darn address goes where. What is the difference between
    a) the site name
b)http address of your homepage (Do I even have one?)
    c)Publishing Server: Publishing address.
I don’t need my hand held or want the work done for me, I want someone just to show me once - and not charge me my first “big pay”.
Randy, if this venture is as well done and meticulously followed, like I just know it will be, you will have a smash HIT.

  9. Justin Says:

My goodness. Some really interesting comments and right on point with what is happening. Randy, thank you for your willingness to share and to help some of us that are struggling with some many weakness that hold us back.

I read over and over and over again about what is going on in the minds of so many in any career environment. First and foremost seems to be fear and we mask or hide it in so very subtly that we do not even see it ourselves. From what I have read of some of your stuff you suffered from it in the beginning as well. Ha, we are not alone. Even the greats suffered from being human in the beginning.

Marlon Sanders says to learn something and then do it and do until we get good at it. Another says if you do nothing you get nothing. I kinda identify with Camille above. I have been able to get a website up of sorts, thanks to Randy’s coaching videos. Thanks Randy.

I look forward to being a part of this little family and learning and hopefully sharing as well. I am not a good teacher, but at heart I do love to share things that I have learned that work for me.

What do I want? Can you explain hub pages and how to make that work for us?

Thanks for the great program Randy and God bless you. I am sure you will be rewarded many times over for your willingness to so freely give.

    Justin

  10. Randy Smith Says:

    Hi Randy,

That seems weird - typing MY name …lol (it’s quite rare in the UK)
Anyway - just a quick note to say ‘cool blog’ (now I sound like a spa mmer…..hehe)

Seriously, I’m always interested in what you have to say, and for those who haven’t looked, check out Randy’s Marketing Beginners link over on the right.

I used the info on that site to greatly improve my own efforts and look far more professional when I was getting started.
I still refer to Randy’s Videos from time to time when I get stuck. (I’m just not techy at all)

I’ve subscribed so I can keep up with your posts on here, as I’m sure they’ll prove invaluable, even when we’re doing OK - there is still heaps of room for improvement!!

    Warm Regards

    Hi Randy:

I’ve been trying to install an autoresponder on my server - I still can’t seem to get it right! I am a newbie and started my websites this past September. Your Marketing Beginners website has been my best friend ever since.

I’m hoping you will post about installing scripts. Especially those that don’t require you to have an CGI-bin.

I also have a new blog WrightHereOnTheWeb.com and just learned how to move it to from one domain to another. But, as of yet, I still haven’t been interesting enough to inspire anyone to make any comments on it.

I plan on subscribing to your new blog and I hope that I learn to be as imformative as you are.

    To your blogging success!

  12. Randy The Hermit Says:

First I would like to thank you all for the kind words. Now I will break it down to individual responses.

    **Del and Natalie**

I have put autoresponders and script installation on my list

    **Floyd and Camille**

What you are asking for would be a series of videos but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done. I would suggest you join the forum at Marketing Beginners and post there. This way all you questions can be answered and others can see them to. If you aren’t a member of Marketing Beginners you can sign up for free at http://www.marketingbeginners.com once you
are in click on the forum link and introduce yourself and ask your questions. There are other people besides me that can help you there.

    **Floyd**

Quit buying hard drive filler. I don’t care if I recommend it if it isn’t moving you toward a goal you don’t need it at this time. Read the post, “Are You Sick and Tired of Hering, ‘Give Me Your Money!’”

    **Randy**

I lived outside of Cambridge for two years so I know what you mean about being named Randy. But remember I am not only Randy I am Randy Baustert.

Since a lot of people probably don’t understand what I just wrote I will probably create a post on this is a just for fun section.

Keep the comments coming I now have topics for 4 posts.

  13. Arthur Says:

    Congrats on the blog Randy
Great content as usual, I like the format as well, looks great
I had a question but I’ll try it in the forum first
    Regards
    Arthur

  14. Randy The Hermit Says:

    Hi Arthur,

    Thank you.

If it is a question that can be answered in a post here. You can ask it both places. The forum is better if there are numerous parts to be answered.

  15. Harry Says:

    Hi Randy,

Nice to see you ‘getting busy’ or should I say even busier.

Theres so much info around, do this, go there, bookmark, network, video, blog, digg etc that its all a bit too much.

I’m looking for ‘nice easy simple steps’ (in reality I know there aren’t easy roads to success but i guess you get my point)…OK not initially leading to $, but we’re laying foundations for future growth.

so I’ll definitely be following along to see what an ‘old hippy’ can learn.

  16. Randy The Hermit Says:

    Hi Harry,

Good to see you here. There are a lot of blocks in a foundation and even more if you don’t know what you are building :) everything you mentioned above:

do this, go there, bookmark, network, video, blog, digg

Is all valid at some point or another but if it doesn’t move you closer to your goals. It can wait.

  17. Joe Forgette Says:

Do you have any tips for SEO for reatail websites?

  18. Randy The Hermit Says:

    Hi Joe,

Without creating a post for this. There will probably be one later but the first thing you should do is make sure all your products are in categories that are folders with keyword for the names. And all the products need to have a page with the product keywords and name in the title tag.

Once you get this done it is time to start with the back links.

  19. kaye jay Says:

All I can say is that when it comes to SEO, Randy is the man. Plus, he is not the type of person who likes to ask for your money. He seldom recommends a product and does not bombard you with emails asking for your money.

I’ve learned a lot from him and I would recommend that you actively participate in the members forum of marketing beginners. See you there!

  20. Randy The Hermit Says:

    Hey KJ,

Don’t tell people I don’t want their money, because then they won’t give it to me :)

Good to hear from you and thanks of the kind words.

  21. The Anti Hype Says:

Could you provide some help with Tags please.

In particular on blogs should tags be keywords in the title and the body of the page / post? How many should you use for maximum effect? I’ve heard that too many causes search engine problems (thought of as spamming).

Should tags be words that are highly searched? Any help much appreciated

  22. Randy The Hermit Says:

    Hey Wizzer,

This is a good topic for a post because keywords and tags are different entities. Look for a post on this early next week.

  23. Randy Smith Says:

You must have had some fun in the UK at the time ….hehe

  25. Review Boss Says:

    Hi randy,

I want to know how to get my Wordpress blog indexed by MSN…I’m asking very basic question…it’s really amazing that MSN can’t even index a site which gets 1000’s visitors from Google.

I can get my static sites get indexed by MSN…no problem

    Regards
    Mr. RB
    http://reviewboss.com

  26. Randy The Hermit Says:

    Hi Mr RB,

That is a good question I assume you are talking about your Review Boss site because I looked at it and you are in Google, Yahoo and Ask but you don’t show up at all in MSN not even for a backlink.

The only way this could possibly happen is if you were delisted by MSN.

Now there are a number of reasons that you could have been delisted but I am going to assume you haven’t been running any BlackHat techniques on your site.

You are doing the right things with the sitemap and the robots.txt so that rules out just about everything except the latest rumor I have heard. I call this a rumor because I haven’t tested it and no one I know has tested it but it appears that if you have Google Adsense on your site you won’t turn up in MSN.

If you want to read more there is a link to a post below you will see that you aren’t alone.

  27. Jerry Stokes Says:

I am not in the business you guys are yet but hope tio be soon. My question is about getting real prospects to my web site and then getting them to buy. I have a pretty good squeeze page I believe but it’s on my web site as a link saying FREE System which It is and it’s a pretty good system that I could possibly sell as a stand alone procuct then use a OTO page to up-sell them to my ebook.

My problem is fighting the corruption and outright lies and thievery in this line of business. Getting traffic to my site is difficult and I have more or less bankrupted myself by trying to learn how to market on the Internet. Seems there are shysters in Internet marketing also.

My question is how to get targeted traffic to my web site without hundreds of $ advertising in the Daily Racing Form, the one paper all horse players read. Thanks in advance for any any help you can be.

    http://www.restlessgold.com/

  28. Randy The Hermit Says:

    Hi Jerry,

I looked at your sites and you are right buying traffic for those sites would be very expensive. But that doesn’t mean it would be prohibitive, it all depends on your conversion ratio. If the advertising brings in more money then it costs then you are ahead.

With that said if you are looking for free traffic you can get it through a blog similar to this one. Blogs can get you to the top of the search engines and you can get traffic that way if you have the right keywords in your domain name. See my post:

    http://www.startingsteps.com/internet-marketing/seo/first-page-in-google

Then you need to show your prospective customers that you actually know something about the topic, especially with handicapping, people want to know that the information they are getting is coming from somebody that has actually done it. Even to sign up to your free offer. Just make a couple of posts on you blog about handicapping techniques that DON’T WORK and why they don’t work and offer your free system as a solution to that problem. Then you offer the upsell to your book.

But the first thing you need to do is establish yourself as an expert and a blog is a great way to do this. You can show off your knowledge and gain a following.
